Hey. I think I want you all to see this. Now, I'm not about to chastise someone for posting their own thoughts on their own livejournal (or whatever), and (sadly) being a female musician, I think it was bound to happen. But myself and a friend or two are on that, so I feel I can share it with you.
My own feelings aside, some people I consider myself close to are bothered by it, so I decided to post the link so you can enjoy, and form your own opinions.
Oh, and here's a little more for you. It's pictures from a Great Plains show, but scroll to the bottom to see what he has to say about Nanker.
This day last year, was the science project party. I also went to a protest with Lav and Leslie after breakfast, and it was a little over a year ago that I threw an ashtray at people at a bar.

I'm not here to defend my sense of humour (we each have our own), but you should know that you're offending MY friends by not seeing the comedy which was obviously intended here. Did you ever think that Nancy's stance + stirring shit up is the reason it exists? I mean, the damned thing is linked to the GuitarChicks.com web-site!
These are ways of dealing with hot-button issues in our community, such as that aborted soft-core site, and the ridiculous female staff dress code at Merril's.

maybe if they were in on the joke in the first place they would have had the chance to find it funny.

I think the joke was less about Nancy and more about the waitress outfits at Merril's. A joke, though perhaps not funny to some, that was started by the first commenter. Then again, I wasn't the one whose cleavage was being written about.
You should write him and ask that you be removed from the bass page. That would deliver the message that you are uncomfortable with it.
I don't like that my first post on your blog is about this. I've had better things to say.
All aside, the photos are good. And that's an awesome stage.

Hey guys. Especially Mr. anonymously-offended-in-the-most-bullshit-fashion-I've-ever-encountered. I didn't even read that other shit. I was talking about Nancy's picture being posted.
The only hilarity that I see in this is that I've actually argued with Nancy about how I think it's ok to think chicks are hot because they're musicians. Regardless of my own opinion on the topic, I think it's pretty fuckin' distasteful to prominently display a photo of someone in a context they so adamantly condemn.
Panties unbunched yet?

Wow, look. People are forming their own opinions. Yay!
eb: I agree
anonymous: I've never looked at it that way before. Friends, remind me that when someone doesn't get my sense of humour, it offends me. Seriously, though, maybe it's a joke because of the whole guitarchicks thing. Yes, I noticed the link, ASS, don't treat me like I'm stupid. At least guitarchicks dot com ASKED for people to submit to their website. All we did, was play shows and in Nancy's case, all shes did was GO TO a show. Joke or not, it's pretty fucking rude. Ruder than guitarchicks ESPECIALLY considering her voiced opinion on guitarchicks. It's like ger said, maybe if we were in ont it, maybe if it were Nancy's friends saying "ha ha, if you hate guitar chicks so much, check out bass chicks" it would be funny. But it wasn't. It was creepy strangers.
I've lived in this community for awhile. I didn't know this was how "we" deal with hot-button issues. If it's such a harmless joke, why not post it on locals in the guitarchicks thread?
I'm sorry, though. I didn't mean to offend your "friends." This is my way of dealing with hot-button issues in my life. That's why it's my blog.
ger: I concur, as mentioned above.
jw: I don't really care who started what "joke." I replied above. I don't need to be removed. I think I've made my point by posting this. Besides, it's kinda nice to be in the same category as Julie Doiron.
But yes, good photos. Good photographer, for sure.
eb: It's good to clear that up, but I think people were responding to me posting this, rather than responding to your first comment. But yes, I agree with you here, too.

now that i realize that this guy isnt just some random weirdo and hes actually friends of friends it isnt nearly as creepy, and at least he's got good freaking taste in bands. and the pictures are awesome. so i am not really that shitty about it anymore. especially because i like all those bands and those ladies we all look awesome (the pervy blurb at the top i could do without) . now if there were a bunch of idiot naked chicks on there sticking the head of the bass up their clam and have an interview with me on the bottom of the page.. thats where i'd get mad. this tho-as i said now that i have verified uncreepyness - is a'ight.
i think, and for now.

that blurb at the top isn't even bad, (i only read it once) but it seems like he's saying it's not what we all think, he justs thinks girl bass players are hot. i thought there was supposed to be something disturbingly creepy on that site? it seems pretty harmless. it could be much worse.

Oh, and there is nothing innately wrong with liking girls with basses. I like guys with drumsets. Some things can't be helped.

ling-ling san: as per usual since you hit Japan, I don't understand what you're talking about. I never took any links down or put them back up (oh, maybe it's not blue anymore because you visited it). But yeah, some of those girls are hot.
nanker: I agree with what you're saying, except nobody have verified uncreepyness to me. If this is a friend of a friend, I desire to know. Clevage is when your tits look like a bum. It's nice on some chicks, but most women with clevage have boobs that are too big, and it looks gross. (to me. I'm not a guy. I don't understand the freakyness of male minds).
jev: you're right, except for what I said in my last comment. Maybe it's not creepy because, as a male, you haven't experienced hundreds of perverts throughout your life. also, I'm older. This internet thing is fairly new to me. I've had to hide in my bedroom, creeped out, at the age of about 8 when my mother's truck-driving friends would look at me in a weird way and say "she's gonna be a heartbreaker when she grows up". I could tell he was already thinking it. From the look in his eye. If people are arguing that cops shouldn't be taking pictures on Spring Garden to try to "solve" this swarming problem as it's an invasion of privacy, how is this okay? I know it's not what I think, but what you mean.
