So, the wedding...
Last week was an interesting one. The shy Briefs member is now more social than ever. Going to old bars and new ones with old friends and new ones. Getting way too drunk. I usually do that anyway, but even more so when those bad girls are in town. Tuesday saw me shy away from someone. I hadn't seen her in ages and she just kept talking about making out with me. Thing is, that phase existed for a couple of reasons. 1) I found out I was actually allowed to kiss people, when I always considered that cheating. 2) I was drinking while taking antidepressants. I feel like I led some people on. They became friends with me during my crazy "cocktail" phase, and now I think I'm more boring. Mark poured a bunch of water on his crotch and all the girls got hassled by a lonely, drunk, old man. I ended up dancing with Janice and Kat to the Deans. It was a little embarrassing, but fun. I was, as I mentioned, in a shy mood that night, and I never usually dance on open mic night. I save my dancing for the Dome and Reflections.
Wednesday was Stage Nine. The tables were pulled together and it was an interesting and fun mix of people. I showed up with some of my favourite people, Food Fight, and the rest met us there. There were people I was friends with last year but have lost touch with. There were people I was too shy to talk to last year and am now friends with. There were people I didn't even know existed last year, but like now that I know them. I spent money I didn't really have, leaving me with $17 until tomorrow. I still have only spent bus fare from that. But today, I got a birthday card from my mommy. It has AMERICAN money in it. The things that stand out in my mind the most from that night are "What y'all jamming 2too?" (I couldn't say it properly, but that didn't stop me), the guy who disliked Ross, and the kiss in the bathroom. It's not often that I drink that much and remember the walk home, but I do. I wish I didn't. I could barely stand. Basically, KC dragged me home.
I took Thursday off to rest and save money, although I really did want to see System Shit at the Attic.
Friday night, we were in Liverpool. The time at the Lingley's house was splendid. It was the pre-wedding celebration after the rehearsal dinner. The musicians didn't make it to the rehearsal. They were asked to be there at 7:00. They said they couldn't get out of work and they'd be there at 8:00. We got there a little after 9:00. Hip dropped us off and went to see his folks. Case and I stayed at the Ling's and caught up with some people. I spent a lot of the night talking to Alden and Kelly. I really miss those two. Our relationship has dwindled so much since they moved to Yarmouth. They don't even live there anymore, but we still barely ever see them. I also chatted with some L-Pool classics I hadn't seen in awhile like Metric and Regimbal and the Egg. I got to meet some new girlfriends, and get to know others a bit better. I'd like to thank Kid Rock for cancelling his Halifax show. This allowed Patil to come to the wedding, so all the Snaps were around (except Windeyer). We drank and smoked and listened to old vinyl. We played air hockey and watched Brian get his haircut.
Saturday was wedding day. It was beautiful. It was in behind Lane's, on the grass by the Mersey. They had some chairs and a trestle. The boys managed to find a few extension cords to plug in their amp. The bride was beautiful. The ceremony was nice, but I can't say much. You couldn't hear the justice of the peace and I could only read the bride's lips. You could, however, hear the music, the groom, and Susan reading Lav's poem. I think that's because Brian and Susan have acting experience and know how to project.
Three things I did not want to talk about this weekend, especially at the wedding, but ended up having to thanks to a certain someone:
1) my need for a PAP
2) how I'm doing without my meds
3) when are you 2 going to get married?
The reception was a BLAST.
More on that later.
